Location: We have two opportunities for Technical Team Leaders to join the Bioresources department at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. The roles will cover the South and the North Yorkshire areas and will offer a flexible hybrid working arrangement, however, there will be an expectation an element of your time will be spent working at the sites where you will be based at our Blackburn Meadows or Lundwood WWTW (South role) or Esholt or Knostrop WWTS (North role) plus visiting different sites across the Yorkshire region. A full UK driving license (with no more than 6 points) is an essential requirement of this role, with the ability to travel between sites. Work type : Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday Friday. Service Delivery are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. Our Technical Team Leader will manage and lead a team of Engineering Professionals both Mechanical and Electrical to ensure Engineering Regulatory Compliance. They will manage and mitigate Wastewater production, treatment, and other wastewater assets that are associated with risk and resilience issues. By delivering asset and operational excellence across all wastewater assets you will strive for health and safety excellence, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and business plan performance. All scheduled planned and reactive maintenance activities will need to be delivered within required timescales and to the required standard through the performance management of the team members and effective liaison with the Planning Function within Asset Delivery. In addition to looking after your team you will be required to act as supervisor to contractors working on maintenance activities across Yorkshire Waters operational sites making sure all Yorkshire Water staff and contractors working under their responsibility are always compliant with SHEQ policies and standards. Where you fit in: As our Technical Team Leader you will: Ensure assets are safe, available to treat and move wastewater efficiently, are resilient to changing climate conditions, while also delivering effluent to a standard to meet environmental permit. Drive significant improvements in productivity through improved ways of working, consistent application of IT and technology, leadership, and culture. Manage incidents to minimise environmental and customer impact and provide wastewater treatment as quickly and effectively as possible. Ensure real time understanding of key assets and operational performance, risks, and priorities. Maximise asset availability through adherence to the engineering plans and procedures and provide engineering support to the capital programme where required. Ensure effective root cause investigation and problem resolution to Health and Safety and operational issues by working alongside operational managers and making sure the right tools and equipment are available to maximise efficiency and effectiveness Proactively understand internal customer impacts, hold internal customer liaison meetings and work with them to deliver excellent levels of service. Provide support and review site emergency plans Drive engineering improvements to maximise energy self-generation and minimise electricity consumption, chemicals, other contracts, and consumables usage. What skills & qualifications you will need: Experience of managing and leading a team with a proven track record of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets. Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders developing effective relationships Knowledge of H&S process and management systems including incident management and crisis response Experience of leading and embedding change with the ability to influence and drive positive culture and behaviours. Experience of strategic thinking, with the skills to establish a clear strategic direction and drive to implement the plans to delivery. Current and valid UK driving licence (no more than 6 points) and ability to work flexible across the Yorkshire region. You will also benefit from having: Electrical, ICA or mechanical based apprenticeship or Engineering degree or equivalent. (ONC/HNC/BTEC in Electrical, ICA or mechanical Engineering) Knowledge and understanding of asset management principles and processes. Previous experience in an Engineering/operational/strategic leadership role in a commercially orientated and / or regulated environment. Previous experience in a Wastewater or similar utilities, process, or manufacturing background.
